How Conner Weigman could get over 200 passing yards
As we head into Week 3, Weigman is coming off an efficient game, completing 11 of 14 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns. He struggled in Week 1 against Notre Dame, but here he faces a beatable Gators defense.
According to Pro Football Focus, the Gators’ coverage unit has allowed 47 receptions on 63 targets. The team allowed 144 passing yards to Samford quarterback Quincy Crittendon and 385 yards to Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward in Week 1.
All told, Weigman could have opportunities to rack up yards against a beatable secondary in a game that could be pretty close throughout, given the point spread of 3.5.
How Conner Weigman could get under 200 passing yards
Coming into this college football season, Weigman was viewed as a potential No. 1 quarterback for the 2025 NFL Draft class, and he’s not yet shown that.
In Week 1 against Notre Dame, he passed for just 100 yards; in Week 2 against McNeese State, he was efficient but had just 125 passing yards. He did average 8.9 yards per attempt, but we would need to see Weigman throw the ball downfield more.
According to Pro Football Focus, he’s attempted just four passes 20+ yards downfield.
How DJ Lagway could get an any time TD
Lagway drew the Week 2 start against Samford with fellow quarterback Graham Mertz injured, and he had a massive game. He completed 18 of 25 passes for 456 yards and three touchdowns, and he ran five times for 16 yards.
In relief of Mertz in Week 1, Lagway had four carries for 20 yards.
He has dual-threat ability, and the Aggies allowed Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard to run 12 times for 63 yards.
How DJ Lagway could miss an any time TD
Heading into this game, the Gators have yet to name a starting quarterback, as Mertz appears healthy enough to play. If Mertz starts and Lagway doesn’t play, well, he simply won’t have a chance to play.
However, there’s also a world where they platoon these two, which would limit Lagway’s possible attempts. Still, even if he draws the start, he had nine carries for 36 yards but has yet to score a touchdown.
There are many variables to consider when betting a Lagway any time TD prop bet.
