FanDuel is launching a responsible gambling initiative aimed at helping parents and coaches discuss the topic with young adults.
FanDuel is partnering with former NBA player Randy Livingston and his wife, sports agent Anita Smith, for “Trusted Voices: Conversations About Betting.”
The website is designed to give parents, guardians, and coaches the resources to engage young people in conversations about the risks of gambling and how to seek support.
Former NBA player shares story
Livingston played parts of 11 seasons in the NBA. He now coaches the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, which he has led to multiple state championships.
In a video series, he shares his story of struggle and recovery, from being a five-star high school recruit to battling problem gambling as a pro athlete.
“As legal sports betting continues to become more accessible, I knew I wanted to use my experience to help families engage in proactive and informed conversations about gambling,” Livingston said in a press release. “It became apparent to me and Anita that FanDuel shares our goal of helping parents navigate these tough, but important conversations.”
According to the release, FanDuel will support the series with paid digital media and share it across its social channels.
FanDuel expands responsible gambling resources
FanDuel is also expanding its partnership with Kindbridge Behavioral Health, to give individuals who self-exclude from the platform direct access to mental health assessments and group support services nationwide.
Previously the program was only available in New Jersey and Ohio.
