UFC Saudi Arabia Odds: Robert Whittaker Opens As Underdog Against Khamzat Chimaev

The UFC recently announced Robert Whittaker vs. Khamzat Chimaev as the main event for the promotion’s first appearance in Saudi Arabia on June 22, and UFC sportsbooks have already released odds on the fight. The former UFC middleweight champion Whittaker is a +140 underdog in the bout, with the undefeated Chimaev opening as a -166 favorite.

The 185-pound bout is the headliner for the UFC on ABC event from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Below, we’ll have a closer look at Whittaker vs. Chimaev betting odds for the June 22 fight.

UFC Saudi Arabia: Whittaker vs. Chimaev betting odds

Robert Whittaker +140 vs. Khamzat Chimaev -166

Whittaker (25-7) is coming off a convincing decision win over former title contender Paulo Costa at UFC 298 in February. Whittaker, a former UFC middleweight champion, suffered a TKO loss to current middleweight champ Dricus Du Plessis in his previous bout, just his third defeat as a middleweight.

Chimaev (13-0) last fought in October, picking up a somewhat lackluster decision win over former welterweight champ Kamaru Usman in Abu Dhabi. Visa issues have kept him from fighting in the US, and a combination of health issues and last-minute changes in opponents have made it a struggle for him to stay active.

While Whittaker is a veteran of the UFC’s middleweight division, Chimaev is still seen as largely untested against the best 185-pounders. He’s picked up several notable wins against fighters who moved up from 170 pounds to face him, but he has yet to face any of the top middleweight contenders in the UFC. Whittaker should be a true test of where the unbeaten Chechen fighter stands in the 185-pound ranks.
