Sporttrade was a sports betting exchange that was previously available in a small number of states before shutting down in May 2026.
Instead of strictly dealing with the online sportsbook to bet, Sporttrade allowed you to treat its platform like a stock exchange. Bettors could sell their position on a wager to other members of the exchange. As in a stock market, users could buy and sell bets at ask and bid prices.
Sporttrade sought to reduce the margins bettors pay at traditional sportsbooks, known as the vig. In addition to this new aspect of sports betting, Sporttrade provided an innovative way to display odds, too. The online sportsbook did not use traditional American odds, but instead percentages.
For instance, if a team’s futures odds said it had a 10% chance to win the title, then a $10 bet would win $100 if correct. Sporttrade was based in Philadelphia but launched in New Jersey first. It operated in NJ via a skin from Bally’s in Atlantic City, then expanded to four other states before closing.
Sporttrade welcome offer
Sporttrade offered a welcome bonus worth up to $300 to new users. They did not need a Sporttrade promo code to claim this welcome offer.

Sporttrade sign-up offer details
The Sporttrade Sportsbook welcome bonus was unique. Here’s how users took advantage of it.
- Open a new account with Sporttrade.
- Make a deposit.
- You then get 3% cashback for all the qualifying wagers you place during your first seven days with Sporttrade.
- A qualifying wager must have odds of -480 or longer.
- To claim the full $300 bonus, you would need to place $10,000 in qualifying bets during your first seven days at Sporttrade.
The Sporttrade welcome bonus was not particularly strong in our estimation. Well, we liked that you got the cashback bonus in cash (not bonus bets or site credit), but the fact that you only got 3% of your wagers back was extremely low. The vast majority of users could not come anywhere close to wagering $10,000 in seven days, which was required to claim the maximum $300 bonus.
Signing up at Sporttrade Sportsbook
Creating an account to sign up for Sporttrade required sharing the following information:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Home address
- Phone number
- Social Security number
Bettors had to create a username and a password. They also had to agree to Sporttrade’s terms and conditions and confirm their age.
Registration eligibility at Sporttrade
The requirements to bet online in a legal US state were the same as with any other sportsbook. To use Sporttrade, you had to be old enough to legally wager and located within a state where the platform was licensed to operate.
In New Jersey, where Sporttrade first launched, bettors had to be at least 21 to place bets. The only other requirement was being physically within the borders of a state where the app was live. This meant that if you were outside New Jersey — and later other states, once Sporttrade expanded — you couldn’t place a wager, though you didn’t need to be a resident of either state to bet while physically present there.
The app used geolocation to confirm you were within a legal betting area. Ultimately, Sporttrade was available in AZ, CO, IA, NJ, and VA before exiting the sports betting business in May 2026.
Nearly anyone could download and use Sporttrade, with a few exceptions: those in professions that could influence a sporting event — players, trainers, coaches, officials — were barred from betting, as were certain key casino employees.
Downloading the Sporttrade Sportsbook app
Once Sporttrade officially launched, its app was available for both iOS and Android devices, downloadable via links on the sportsbook’s website.
Like most sportsbooks, Sporttrade also offered a browser-based version, allowing bettors to place wagers on a computer or via a phone’s web browser without downloading the app.
Sporttrade made its sportsbook and trading marketplace available across these platforms, giving bettors multiple convenient ways to place wagers and manage positions.
Promotions
Alongside its more flexible wagering options, Sporttrade offered promotions in line with the rest of the industry. Common offers included things like parlay insurance, boosted odds, and ways to earn bonus bets or site credit, often tied to a notable game or event. Beyond its initial welcome offer, Sporttrade continued rolling out promotions throughout its time in the market.
Banking
Sporttrade offered a range of ways to deposit and withdraw funds, in line with typical options across the industry, including:
- PayPal
- ACH/e-check
- Credit or debit card
- Online banking
- Play+ prepaid card
- Wire transfer
- PayNearMe
- Neteller
- Cash at the casino cage
Bettors could typically withdraw winnings through many of the same methods, with a mailed check also available in some cases.
Betting options
Sporttrade differed from typical sports betting apps by allowing bettors to buy and sell wagers, though it also functioned as a more conventional sportsbook covering the basics.
Bettors who used Sporttrade generally had access to most of the following betting options:
- Moneylines
- Point spreads
- Totals
- Parlays
- Teasers
- Round robins
- Live bets
- Props
- Futures
One key difference on Sporttrade was how it displayed odds. Rather than moneyline odds like -150 or +120, it showed teams’ odds as percentages, with wagers placed on a probability between zero and 100.
So a favorite that would normally carry odds of -180 was shown on Sporttrade at 64%. The same logic applied to futures bets — betting on a team to win a championship at 10% was effectively equivalent to odds of +1000.
Sporttrade positioned this as a simpler, more widely understood way of looking at sports betting, tied to the platform’s functioning like a stock exchange.
Similar to cashing out a bet on a conventional sportsbook, Sporttrade permitted bettors to buy and sell other users’ “positions” on a given market — most commonly through live, in-game wagers.
Live betting
In general, live sports betting is one of the most common ways to bet on a game today. With so many online sportsbooks having launched in recent years, bettors can place wagers on their phones within seconds.
Most sportsbooks now provide a variety of live betting options for nearly every sport and matchup, with updated odds available for almost the entire duration of gameplay. Some books offer only adjusted odds for standard lines like the moneyline, total, and point spread, but most list plenty more, often including game, player, and team props.
Sporttrade’s live offerings worked a little differently, since the platform doubled as a sort of stock market. For instance, if you bet on a team before a game at 50% and that team started the game well, your position’s percentage would jump up, at which point you could sell off part or all of that position while it looked like a winner. The same worked in reverse: if you bet live on a team that was losing, you’d get better odds, and a comeback could turn a small stake into a much larger payout.
Sporttrade functioned as a marketplace that matched bettors with opposing interests in the same wager, rather than simply taking the other side of every bet, as a traditional sportsbook does. This set it apart from sportsbooks that don’t always let you cash out your original wager: Sporttrade’s “always on” in-game wagering let you buy or sell a position at any moment, in theory getting you a better price since it matched you with the best available offer. You could watch the value of your positions change in real time through your portfolio, and even set limit orders to buy or sell at a specific price.
