Fanatics has operated for over a decade as a retailer of sports merchandise and apparel. Through licensing agreements with the NFL, NBA, MLB and other major leagues, Fanatics has cemented itself in the North American sports landscape. Now the company is looking to translate that success into online sports betting.

So far, Fanatics is licensed to operate its online sportsbook in just a few states, including Ohio, Maryland, Tennessee, and Massachusetts. In Ohio and Massachusetts, Fanatics started with a limited beta version in advance of the full product being available statewide. In Maryland, Fanatics made a splash with a retail sportsbook at FedEx Field, home of the Washington Commanders.

And now, having acquired much of PointsBet’s US operations, Fanatics is poised to take its sportsbook app to a significantly expanded list of states in the near future.

Is Fanatics Sportsbook legal?

Yes, Fanatics Sportsbook is legal in all of the states in which it operates. So far, that list consists of the following:

By purchasing PointsBet’s US operations, Fanatics could potentially gain access to Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. This process will begin once the acquisition deal closes at the end of August 2023.

Fanatics Sportsbook Massachusetts

Massachusetts legalized sports betting on paper in August of 2022, when Gov. Charlie Baker signed off on a sports betting bill that the legislature had passed. The bill approved both retail and online sportsbooks — including sportsbook apps.

Retail sports betting launched in January of 2023, and online sportsbooks followed suit not long after, with the statewide launch coming on March 10. Massachusetts allotted 15 licenses for online sportsbooks, with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission handling licensing.

Fanatics Massachusetts welcome bonus

To claim the Fanatics Sportsbook bonus, all you need to do is use a link on this page to sign up at the site, complete the account creation process, and — once Fanatics has verified your account — deposit and wager a minimum of $5.

As long as your first bet is for at least $5, you’ll receive $200 in bonus bets, which you can use to place new wagers on the Fanatics site.

When did Fanatics launch in Massachusetts?

While Massachusetts legalized sports betting in March of 2023, Fanatics did not launch immediately in the state. It was not until May 25 that Fanatics Sportsbook was ready to begin accepting wagers in Massachusetts. That was when it launched as a beta on an invitational basis.

In Massachusetts, Fanatics has a “tethered” license, meaning it needs a land-based partner to operate in the state. To satisfy that requirement, Fanatics is partnered with Plainridge Park Casino, located in Plainville, Massachusetts.

Future Fanatics states

Having purchased PointsBet’s US arm, Fanatics is likely to add Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia to its roster, though that probably won’t happen until at least September of 2023, once the ink is dry on the acquisition deal.

Beyond that, Fanatics may also seek to gain a foothold in other new states that are in the process of legalizing sports betting, like North Carolina and Vermont.

Fanatics eligibility requirements

Signing up for a Fanatics account is fairly easy, but there are some basic eligibility requirements that you have to meet in order to do so. See the table below:

Age to bet onlineThe age at which you can legally bet on sports depends a bit on where you are located. Most states set the minimum age at 21, but it’s 18 in a few places.
Betting restrictionsYou cannot sign up to bet at Fanatics if you are on any gambling self-exclusion lists. If you work for a league or sports team, you cannot bet on that sport.
Eligibility for bonusYou must be a new user to claim the bonus at Fanatics. If you already have an account, you are not eligible.
Legal statesKentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio and Tennessee
Do I have to be a resident of a legal state to play? No. However, you must be located in such a state to place any wagers. Fanatics uses geolocation to ensure its customers meet the location requirement.

How does Fanatics compare to other legal sportsbooks?

Fanatics is still a new platform, but its welcome bonus is competitive with other legal online sportsbooks, and the FanCash program helps set the book apart. Here’s a quick breakdown of how Fanatics stacks up in a few areas:

What are the top features at Fanatics?

Fanatics’ FanCash program lets you earn money toward the Fanatics store with every wager. This is a different perk from other sportsbook reward programs and a point in Fanatics’ favor. Here’s a rundown of the main strong points so far:

How to sign up for a Fanatics Sportsbook account

If you want to register, follow a link on this page to the Fanatics Sportsbook site and fill out a quick survey. You’ll then receive a code via email to sign up on the Fanatics app.

Once you have that, you’ll need to complete the know-your-customer process to verify your details before creating an account. Then, you can deposit money into your account, make an opening wager of $5 or more, and Fanatics will send you $200 in bonus bets.

How to bet at Fanatics

You can make the standard range of wagers at Fanatics Sportsbook. For users who might be new to sports betting, here are the main types of bets that you can expect to find after you sign up:

What sports can you bet on at Fanatics?

Fanatics will offer its customers a number of options. In particular, expect to find the widest variety of bets on games in the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and NCAA. Additionally, Fanatics will also likely offer odds on other major sports like golf, tennis, soccer, NASCAR/Formula One and UFC.

How are the odds at Fanatics?

It’s still very early to judge how the odds at Fanatics will compare to other sportsbooks. However, Fanatics uses the software and odds provider Amelco, which it licensed in April 2022. Amelco is based in the UK and has previously provided the sportsbook engine for betting providers like Hard Rock Sportsbook, Fox Bet and the now-defunct Fubo Sportsbook.

How early are the lines available?

Fanatics should post all its odds reliably ahead of time, though we don’t expect it to be markedly faster than other major sportsbook options. Odds for events like the NBA Finals will likely be up earlier than odds for regular-season games or smaller events.

Are there any betting limits at Fanatics?

What others are saying about the Fanatics Sportsbook app

We’ve compiled reviews of Fanatics Sportsbook from a number of platforms to give you an idea of what people like and dislike about the platform so far. Keep in mind that the sportsbook is still new, so reviews are limited.

Fanatics Reddit reviews

There has only been a little discussion about Fanatics so far on Reddit. One user reports that “it’s pretty simple and basic. I am hoping once they move out of beta testing more bets will be available.

Fanatics Apple reviews

Though there’s still a limited number of reviews so far, Apple customers are rating the app at 3.9/5 stars on the App Store. Here are some of the comments:

Fanatics Google reviews

Fanatics has limited reviews so far on the Google Play Store, with just over 1,000 downloads to date. Overall, reviews are fairly positive, with an average rating of 4.2/5. However, many are also reporting glitches and errors with the app. For example, one person “had to reinstall the app after the last update, and now I can’t log back into my account. Before this happened, the app was silky smooth and a pretty enjoyable experience!

Fanatics platform review

Fanatics Sportsbook is still new, but the early signs are promising. The app — which is still in beta in some states — has generally positive early reviews on the Apple and Android stores, with most reporting that they like the user interface.

In particular, the FanCash system has received praise. Many online sportsbook customers have grown accustomed to earning rewards that lack value or that they cannot redeem for anything they want. At Fanatics, however, you earn FanCash as you bet, and you can redeem it at the Fanatics online store for sports merchandise and apparel.

The app remains a work in progress, but the interface has a sleek look on a modern black background, and navigation is smooth. You can view your account balance on a modern wallet-style display, and there’s a withdrawal tracker that allows you to keep tabs on when your funds will reach your account.

Fanatics could stand to add a few more promos to back up its “bet $5, get $200” welcome bonus, and the app reliability will need to improve as it moves out of the beta phase, but it’s already worth consideration for users in its five legal states.

Fanatics Sportsbook FAQ

What is the Fanatics promo code?

You don’t need a code to access the welcome bonus at Fanatics. Just sign up from a link on this page to qualify for $200 in bonus bets if you place a first bet of $5 or more.

Where is Fanatics Sportsbook available?

So far, it is legal in five states: Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Massachusetts, and Maryland. Once it absorbs PointsBet’s US operations, it could add Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

Why is my winning bet still open?

In general, your bets should settle with minimal delay once an event ends. There can be exceptions to this, however, typically due to minor issues that should not take long to resolve. If an issue persists, check social media to see if anyone else is experiencing the same problem or if Fanatics has acknowledged it. If not, consider reaching out to customer support.

Can I cash out early at Fanatics?

Yes. Fanatics will let you cash out some wagers early in exchange for a limited payout. Check your bet slip to see if your wager qualifies.

Is the vig higher than normal for same-game parlays at Fanatics?

No. So far users are reporting that the odds pricing at Fanatics is competitive, including for SGPs. If you’re unsure, consider shopping around at multiple sportsbooks to see which one is offering the best odds.

Why did Fanatics void my same-game parlay?

In all likelihood, one of the legs in your SGP ended up void because the wager was no longer applicable. For example, you might have made a prop bet on a player who did not end up playing due to injury. Be sure to check each of the legs in your parlay, and if you still can’t tell why Fanatics voided your SGP, reach out to customer support.

Does Fanatics charge any fees for withdrawals?

No, but the payment method you choose might involve a fee.

How quickly does Fanatics answer customer support emails?

Currently, Fanatics does not offer email support. You can use online live chat, however, or call the Fanatics support line at 855-438-9701. You can also try Twitter: @FanaticsSupport.

Fanatics in the news

With its recent launches and major business moves, Fanatics has been making some headlines. Here are a few:

The Fanatics story

Fanatics started as a sports merchandise and apparel company, boasting licensing deals with every major league and a company valuation in excess of $25 billion. In 2022, it filed for a sports betting trademark. It then opened a retail sportsbook inside FedEx Field in Maryland in January of 2023.

Now, after launching two beta tests and acquiring PointsBet’s US operations, Fanatics Sportsbook is expanding, with the potential to be available in over a dozen states by the end of 2023.
