Russell Wilson Trade Odds: Steelers & Raiders Favorites To Land Wilson

Russell Wilson won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks and was inches away from a second championship, but his legacy has taken a hit during his brief tenure in Denver. After a rough season under first-year coach Nathaniel Hackett, Wilson’s numbers improved (3,070 yards, 66.4% completion rate, 26 touchdowns, eight interceptions, 98.0 passer rating) in 15 starts under Sean Payton. Then he was benched for Denver’s final two games for contract reasons, indicating that the Broncos plan to move on from the veteran this offseason.

There is a betting favorite to land Wilson ahead of the 2024-25 season, yet nothing is certain when it comes to the inner workings of NFL front offices. Below, we’ll take a look at the market for Wilson’s next team, courtesy of DraftKings Colorado.

Note, however, that trade odds are not available at all top sportsbooks, and it also depends on the state you are located in.

Teams favored to sign Russell Wilson

When Chad Ochocinco told co-host Shannon Sharpe on their “Nightcap” podcast that he had some information on Wilson’s next team, the market potentially moved to make the Steelers the favorites. Ochocinco, the former Bengals receiver, said Justin Fields is more likely to wind up in Atlanta if the Bears trade him, thus clearing the way for the Steelers to trade for a veteran to start over Kenny Pickett or Mason Rudolph. The Falcons and Raiders come in with the next shortest odds to sign Wilson, right ahead of his current team. If the Broncos decide to restructure his contract, they might retain him.

Pittsburgh Steelers (-225)

The Steelers have been looking for an answer at quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger began to fade at the end of his career. Pittsburgh has a great defense, and Mike Tomlin has never posted a losing record in his long tenure as head coach. Adding Wilson to an organization and team with a stable history of success seems like it could be a winning formula, especially with the staff divided between Pickett and Rudolph as a potential starter, as reported by Mike Florio, editor-in-chief of Pro Football Talk.

Las Vegas Raiders (+550)

In January, ESPN senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler reported that an anonymous executive told him Wilson could wind up with the Raiders. As a division rival, the Raiders got a good look at Wilson in four matchups over the past two seasons. They let Jarrett Stidham walk, and he might start for Denver next year while Vegas pursues the more established veteran.

Atlanta Falcons (+600)

After a rough season with Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke sharing the starting role under fired coach Arthur Smith, the Falcons are expected to make a move for a quarterback. The team is a leading contender to sign Kirk Cousins if he doesn’t re-sign with the Vikings this offseason, and it’s also been linked in a potential trade for Justin Fields, reported by Josh Alper, a writer at NBC Sports. Atlanta is a young team that could pursue a rookie quarterback in the draft.

Denver Broncos (+600)

While they benched Wilson for their final two games to avoid paying out bonuses, the Broncos could restructure his contract and bring him back. Wilson signed a five-year extension worth up to $245 million after his first season with the franchise, and Denver sold off four picks in the first two rounds of the draft to trade for Wilson in 2022.

New England Patriots (+850)

The Patriots have a new coach in Jerod Mayo and a staff that might prefer to add an established passer. They could sign Wilson instead of using the No. 3 overall pick this draft on a quarterback, or they could sign him to a short-term deal to bridge the gap over the next two years for a rookie signee. In late December, Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated said the path is “narrow” for Wilson to potentially become a Patriot.

Minnesota Vikings (+1000)

The Vikings are getting the shortest odds to retain Kirk Cousins as their starter next season, but if they move on from the 35-year-old, who is coming off an Achilles tear, they would be in the market for a new quarterback. That potential scenario made the Vikings an early favorite to land Wilson, but their odds have doubled since the calendar year began.
