How to use Pick6 for MLB 

It’s easy to enter MLB contests at DraftKings Pick6. We’ve explained how to build your entry below, and we’ve also discussed the different types of contests to consider. 

Building your MLB entry 

• Browse your options: Open the DraftKings Pick6 app or visit the site and select “MLB” from the list of leagues. You will then see hundreds of player props. DraftKings Pick6 offers advanced filter tools, so you can narrow your search down to specific teams or stat categories. 
• Build your entry: When you find a pick you like, hit the “More” or “Less” button to add it to your pick slip. Add 2-6 picks to your slip (or 3-6 picks if you’re in Colorado). You need to make picks on players from at least two different MLB teams. 
• Choose your entry fee: When you’ve made your picks, choose your entry fee. Your Pick6 lineups will automatically be entered into multiple $1 entry contests. For example, if you choose a $7 entry fee, you’ll enter seven eligible contests. 
• Make your play: Review the slip and hit the button to confirm your entry. If your picks are successful, you’ll receive your share of the prize pool after the games conclude. 

Here’s an example of a DraftKings Pick6 MLB pick set: 

• Gerrit Cole – More than 7.5 Ks 
• Juan Soto – Less than 1.5 Hits

Scoring and payouts 

DraftKings Pick6 follows a simple scoring system: 

• Picks are either correct or incorrect. 
• Build a perfect pick set to win a share of the top prize. 
• Create a near-perfect pick set to win a share of the secondary prize. 

It’s similar to a pari-mutuel pool. All the entry fees go into a pool, DraftKings takes a small fee for hosting the contest, and the rest is distributed among successful players. 

For example, a Pick-5 contest with a $10,000 prize pool might have this prize structure: 

• 5/5 correct: $8,000 
• 4/5 correct: $2,000 

Let’s say 20 entries go 5-for-5. That means the $8,000 prize pool will be split between those entries, meaning each player with a 5-for-5 entry receives $400. 

Meanwhile, 80 entries go 4-for-5. They will share the remaining $2,000, meaning each player with a 4-for-5 entry receives $25. 

Contest types 

DraftKings Pick6 focuses on multi-entry public contests. You’re competing in a pool against lots of other players. You can submit multiple pick sets if you like. This allows you to hedge your plays or explore different combinations. 

You won’t find head-to-head contests or private contests on the DraftKings Pick6 app. They’re available on the main DraftKings DFS app, so they may be added to Pick6 in the future, but they haven’t been introduced yet. 

Different options for entries 

There are five options for entries: 

• Two picks: High hit rate, with lower potential payouts. 
• Three picks: A moderate risk/reward balance. 
• Four picks: A riskier option, with higher potential rewards. 
• Five picks: A high risk, high reward option.
• Six picks: The toughest option, with the largest potential rewards.  

You can decide how many picks to make based on your confidence and risk tolerance. 

Common stat categories 

There are loads of different stat categories to consider when building your MLB picks set. Here are the most popular options: 

• Pitchers: strikeouts (Ks), earned runs allowed, hits against, outs recorded, strikeouts thrown, pitches thrown, stolen bases. 
• Batters: hits, home runs, runs batted in, total bases, runs scored, singles, doubles, walks, extra base hits.  

You’ll see a line on each stat, such as 7.5 strikeouts or 1.5 hits. Simply pick “More” or “Less” on any stat you find interesting. The results are determined by official third-party stat providers. 

MLB Pick6 strategies 

Sharp MLB bettors are often limited at online sportsbooks and pick’em apps. The house keeps losing, so it responds by limiting the amount you can wager. That won’t be an issue when you play DraftKings Pick 6. 

The company receives a fixed fee regardless of the results, so there’s no reason for DraftKings to limit you. Here are some strategies that can boost your chances of success: 

• Conduct extensive research: The DraftKings Pick6 app offers useful stats, but you’ll find far more comprehensive stats at sites like FanGraphs and Baseball Reference. Use all the data at your disposal when making your picks. 
• Focus on pitcher stats: It’s typically easier to predict pitcher stats that hitter stats. For example, a pitcher may throw around 100 pitches, whereas a batter might only make 3-5 plate appearances. Strikeouts and outs recorded are strong targets. 
• Favor volume for hitters: If you’re focusing on hitters, pick batters near the top of the order. They’ll naturally have more Abs. Target hitters with favorable matchups against weak starters or bullpens, along with hot hitters and leadoff hitters with speed. 
• Factor in the ballpark and weather: For example, Coors Field and Fenway tend to yield more runs, while cold weather and wind will typically favor pitchers. 
• Check the sports betting odds: Consult the prop totals at online sportsbooks, as high run totals imply high offensive output. 
• Don’t be afraid of “Less” picks: Many sports fans are natural optimists, and they like to root for stats. That encourages them to instinctively make “More” picks. However, “Less” picks are often shrewder, especially when a player is in a slump, the matchup is tough, or the prop lines are too aggressive. Being contrarian helps in large contests. 

Start with small entries – Build on after 

Begin with 2-pick or 3-pick entries. You’ll then familiarize yourself with the format, and you’ll learn from any mistakes you make. 

Think of this as your “spring training.” You can then scale up to 4-pick, 5-pick, or 6-pick entries when you’re more confident. 

Track and adjust 

Keep a simple log of your results. Add these stats: 

• Picks made. 
• Outcomes (Win/Loss). 
• Why the pick worked or failed (e.g. Ohtani faced a lefty – bad matchup). 

Over time, you may spot patterns. This can help you identify biases and adjust your approach. For example you may be better at nailing pitcher or hitter props. You may be overestimating power hitters, or weather factors may be hurting you.
