How Brady Cook could get over 1.5 passing TDs
Cook comes into this game after completing 23 of 37 passes (62.2%) for 226 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions against Vanderbilt. Before that game, he’d completed 70% or more of his passes in two games.
The Tigers throw on 53.2% of his offensive snaps. Tigers right tackle Armand Membou hasn’t allowed a single sack this season. He’ll work against Aggies pass rusher Nic Scourton, who’s generated 13 pressures and three sacks this season.
How Brady Cook could get under 1.5 passing TDs
Cook had two passing touchdowns against Vanderbilt, but before that, he’d thrown for one or zero touchdowns in each previous game.
The A&M defense has yet to allow a quarterback to throw more than one touchdown in a game this season. The Florida Gators had two passing touchdowns, but each came from a different quarterback.
Cook is also known to run, with four rushing touchdowns this season.
How Luther Burden III could get an any time TD
Through four games, Burden III has four touchdowns on 19 catches for 257 yards. He’s caught a touchdown in all but one game. All of Cook’s touchdown passes have gone to Burden III.
The Aggies are allowing 207 passing yards per game.
How Luther Burden III could fail to get an any time TD
Burden III lines up in the slot on 86.4% of his snaps. In this game, he’ll be taking on Aggies slot corner Tyreek Chappell. Chappell has only played 38 snaps in coverage this season, so there’s not a lot of data to look at. So far this season, he’s allowed just two catches on four targets for -2 yards.
Burden III will certainly be an improved challenge, but he has finished with 49 yards or fewer in two games this season and has no more than six receptions in a game. The Aggies are allowing 123.8 rushing yards (55th) per game, so the Tigers could look more to the ground game.
