Bulldogs favored over Kentucky ahead of conference matchup
How Georgia could win and cover the spread
For Georgia the key could be as simple as playing its brand of football: run the ball effectively, efficient passing, and a stout defense.
So far this season, Carson Beck has completed 41 of 58 passes for 520 yards and seven touchdowns. Against Clemson in Week 1, he completed 23 of 33 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-3 win.
The Georgia defense has allowed just six points through two games and it faces a Kentucky offense that scored six points at home against South Carolina. Quarterback Brock Vandagriff, a former Bulldog, completed three of 10 passes for 30 yards and a pick. Fellow Kentucky quarterback Gavin Wimsatt completed three of seven passes for 14 yards and a pick.
How Kentucky could cover the spread
Kentucky likely needs to create multiple turnovers and run the ball well. The Wildcats averaged just 2.9 yards per play in Week 2 against South Carolina at home.
That would likely need to be about doubled here, along with picking Beck off a couple of times and potentially recovering some fumbles. Whether it’s Vandagriff or Wimsatt, the quarterbacks will need to play efficiently and not turn the ball over.
