Ohio State heavily favored over Western Michigan ahead of Week 2 matchup

How Ohio State could win this game and cover the spread

Ohio State put up 52 points against Akron while allowing just six points in Week 1. The Buckeye defense held the Zips to 177 total yards and just 2.8 yards per play. Ohio State quarterback Will Howard threw for three touchdowns, and freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith caught six passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns.

Western Michigan lost in Week 1 to Wisconsin, 28-14.

How Western Michigan could cover the spread

The Broncos rushed for 120 yards against Wisconsin in Week 1, and running back Jalen Buckley had 64 of those and two TDs. To beat Ohio State — or, much more likely, to get the cover — as near 35-point underdogs, they’d likely have to commit zero turnovers, run the ball well enough to keep the Buckeyes off the field, and lead massively in time of possession.

Western Michigan would also need to get lucky with several turnovers from the Buckeyes and career-worst performances from their starters.
