Current favorites to win the ACC Tournament
UNC ([metabet_core_dynamic_odds market=”bkc/ncaab_winner_acc_tournament” query=”bkc/north_carolina” site_id=”legalsportsreport”])
Could this be the year the Tar Heels climb back atop the ACC? The last conference final for UNC came in 2018, and the storied program hasn’t won the tournament since 2016. Despite losing star guard Caleb Love to transfer, UNC has had a great season, with RJ Davis picking up the scoring slack at 21.5 points per game. Twin towers Armando Bacot and Harrison Ingram have been tough for opposing teams to handle, and the duo combined for 46 points and 23 rebounds in UNC’s first meeting with Duke this season.
Virginia ([metabet_core_dynamic_odds market=”bkc/ncaab_winner_acc_tournament” query=”bkc/virginia” site_id=”legalsportsreport”])
Sitting at third in the conference standings as of March 7, the Cavaliers could grab the third seed in the upcoming tournament or fall lower depending on how they end the season. Virginia has been typically stingy defensively, allowing the second-fewest points per game (59.2) in the nation along with the seventh-fewest free throw attempts (14), but their offense has been inconsistent, especially against the top teams in the ACC.
Duke (Eliminated)
The Blue Devils still have to take on UNC on March 9 in a game that will determine the regular season ACC champion. Duke enters the game with a 15-4 conference record, with losses at in-state rivals UNC and Wake Forest early in the season and a recent slip-up at Georgia Tech. Versatile power forward Kyle Filipowski is the primary weapon for the Devils. Duke won the ACC Tournament in 2023 and lost in the finals to Virginia Tech in 2022.
Wake Forest (Eliminated)
After beating Duke on Feb. 24, the Demon Deacons dropped three straight games to conference foes Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech. Wake is a high-scoring team that gives up 70.3 points per game and is 3-11 on the road or at neutral sites, compared to a stellar 15-1 record at home.
