USFantasy Sports, a pari-mutuel style of daily fantasy sports, is set to release a mobile wagering app in Nevada after less than a year of operation. The mobile app is expected to be released in Nevada in the next few months.

USFantasy’s app, on the way

The app is being designed so that the company can deploy it in other states that may offer USFantasy in the future. Currently, USFantasy operates in Nevada and in Colorado under Mile High Fantasy. Upon release, the app will only be usable in Nevada.

USFantasy is currently building and testing its app behind the scenes. USFantasy expects to submit to the Nevada Gaming Control Board for approval shortly.

Once approved by the NCGB, it should be released to the public for a live field trial. Customers can use the app, but there will be extra eyes on the process behind the scenes to make sure everything is working properly.

The USFantasy app is being created in-house and will offer the same pari-mutuel DFS contests that appear in casinos. This app will only be for USFantasy contests. Sports bettors will continue to use sportsbook apps for traditional sports bets.

The product will be white labeled so that casinos and other districts may offer the apps themselves with their own branding. For example, Mile High Fantasy in Colorado may issue the app with their own custom branding. In Nevada, participating casinos could offer their own custom USFantasy app.

Currently, Nevada residents can only play USFantasy in select casinos. Players looking to go mobile will have to set up a separate mobile sports wagering account for USFantasy.

Once released, customers may have as many as three mobile wagering accounts at a single sportsbook including traditional sports betting, horse racing, and USFantasy. The NGCB and sportsbook operators have been workshopping this issue for over a year with hopes to combine all wagering into one account. Unfortunately, there’s no target date for this to happen.

USFantasy is exploring different ways to potentially fund and cash out the mobile accounts.

USFantasy app features

Out of the gate, the USFantasy app will be able to work over wifi. When apps using miomni software were first released, they did not work over wifi. This was a major issue for many sports bettors. Thankfully, the issue has been fixed, and USFantasy won’t have that problem.

One of the best features in the app will be the ability to view recent past player performance. The app will allow you to pull down recent games from each player. This is a great option to do quick research on players without closing the app.

While the app will be different from the website, you will see some of the better features from USFantasy.com. The app will show how much money each pool has and the respective results from the pools.

Pari-mutuel fantasy sports

USFantasy is different from traditional DFS. The pari-mutuel style betting is a hybrid of DFS and horse betting. There are pools of players made available every day and bettors may choose “win,” “place” or “show.” Bettors can also place exotic wagers like exactas (1st and 2nd place) and trifectas (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) for larger payouts.

DFS operators must obtain a gaming license in order to operate in Nevada. DraftKings, FanDuel, and others have decided not to obtain a license. All traditional DFS companies do not operate in Nevada. The regulations probably won’t change in Nevada anytime in the near future.
