Fanatics Sportsbook has joined the online MA sports betting market, the operator announced Thursday.
Fanatics’ initial MA sports betting launch will be similar to Tennessee and Ohio, with email invites to existing customers in its database.
The operator, which is acquiring PointsBet’s US business, indicated it would launch in the Commonwealth at the end of May.
“We were able to move up our timelines and we will be taking our first bet today in Massachusetts,” a Fanatics spokesperson told LSR.
Eight in MA sports betting market
Fanatics became the eighth mobile sports betting app to go live in Massachusetts, joining:
- Barstool Sportsbook
- BetMGM
- Betr
- Caesars
- DraftKings
- FanDuel
- WynnBet
Bally Bet in MA sports betting market?
State regulators indicated earlier this year that Bally Bet also planned to go live sometime in May.
Unlike Fanatics, though, Bally Bet has yet to finish its final regulatory steps in Massachusetts.
“Bally’s would have to go through the same process as everyone else and receive their certificate of operations, which you know happens during Commission meetings,” a spokesperson for the MA Gaming Commission told LSR.
LSR reached out to Bally Bet for comment but has not yet received a response.
Fanatics’ future in NY
Fanatics will be coming into the New York market.
During a meeting this week, the NYS Gaming Commission clarified that Fanatics will not simply inherit the PointsBet NY license. Rather, state regulators will need to commence their own review of Fanatics.
PointsBet shareholders are set to vote on the $150 million deal in late June.
