AFC East teams
The AFC East has consisted of four teams since the 2002 NFL season. Since that point, the New England Patriots have won the most titles with 16. The longest title drought belongs to the Jets, who last won the division in 2002.
Buffalo Bills
The Bills won the AFC East last season with a record of 11-6, the fourth season in a row that they have claimed the division crown. They’ve opened this season with a record of 2-0, defeating the Cardinals at home and picking up a convincing road win over the Dolphins on Thursday night.
New York Jets
The Jets closed last season with a record of 7-10, good for third place in the division. New York’s last AFC East title happened in 2002. The club kicked off its 2024 campaign with a road loss to the 49ers. It’ll be at the Titans in NFL Week 2 action.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins finished second in the division last season at 11-6, with Buffalo winning the title due to a tiebreaker. Since 2002, the team’s lone division title came in 2008. Miami is 1-1 after the loss to the Bills. Tua Tagovailoa exited with a concussion and could miss some time.
New England Patriots
The Patriots finished last in the division a season ago at 4-13. New England has the most division titles from 2002 to the present (16). It last won the AFC East in 2019, which was the team’s 11th consecutive crown. The team is 1-0 this season after a road upset versus the Bengals.
