Betr Picks is the brainchild of co-owners Joey Levy and Jake Paul. After Betr became a licensed sportsbook in two states, the two decided to launch a DFS app to leverage Paul’s large online fanbase and to operate in certain places that do not have legal sports betting. It launched in 2023 and offers a different DFS experience.

It is an online daily fantasy sports product designed for casual sports fans. Betr’s pick’em contests give customers a “yes” or “no” choice: Will a player exceed Betr’s projected stats for that player in this game? How participants answer that question determines whether they win a payout or not.

Betr Picks mirrors ideas from sports betting in its fantasy sports product: total betting, parlay betting, and hooks. Some state regulators find Betr Picks is too similar to sports betting and don’t allow it.

User interface

The user interface at Betr Picks works well, though it is only for mobile users at the moment and it’s unclear if that will change at any point.

According to Betr reviews on the App Store and Google Play, iOS users report a much better experience. The “Betr Fantasy & Sportsbook” app on the App Store has a 4.2 rating with over 100 reviews. The app is listed at No. 157 in sports and is available to mobile users 17 and older. Those between 17 and 20, however, cannot sign up for an account on Betr Picks.

The Android experience is panned much more often. It has a 2.4 rating on Google Play after 178 reviews. Those are both low sample sizes, and the fantasy app is new, so both scores may change over time.

Customer service

Users can contact Betr’s fantasy platform via email and an online contact form, but not over the phone. Betr Picks has two email addresses for customers: a support email and a general contact email.

Also, you can use the Betr app’s contact form to submit a request or question.

Deposits and withdrawals

Betr customers can make deposits using debit cards, ACH, and PayPal. When it’s time to withdraw, they can also use debit cards, ACH, and PayPal. Betr Picks says it can only process back to the original payment method and encourages users to link their debit card, ACH, or PayPal accounts for ease of use.

How to withdraw cash at Betr Picks

Debit card and PayPal withdrawals take up to 48 to 72 hours on your first withdrawal, then up to 24 hours on subsequent withdrawals. Instant bank transfers (ACH) can take up to 120 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) for your first withdrawal. Subsequent withdrawals take up to 24 hours.

The minimum withdrawal amount is $1, while the maximum withdrawal is $500,000 per transaction.

Game selection

Betr Picks has a straightforward contest system. Like traditional fantasy sports and social sports betting, contests are based on a participant’s ability to predict football, baseball, and basketball player stats. The game works quite like over/under sports betting does, so you decide whether players will have more production or less than their projections.

• Pick’em contests: Betr Picks lists many players in the most popular US sports. These are listed by position, so you can browse quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and so on.
• Choose more or less: Each player has a projected stat line, such as 265.5 passing yards or 2.5 passing touchdowns. Contestants can choose whether to pick “more” or “less” for these players.
• 2 to 8 players: The user must choose from two to eight players for each contest. Like a parlay bet, users must win all their picks to receive a payout.
• 3x to 100x payouts: A two-pick contest has a 3x payout. An eight-pick contest has a 100x payout. The various steps between those two options have payouts between those points.

Betr Picks doesn’t have a lot of other play options. The idea is to make it simple for casual fans while assuring that no ties or pushes happen in the contests.

People who are used to the starting lineups of DraftKings and FanDuel might enjoy the different challenge that pick’em contests represent. On the other hand, they might view it as sports betting in another form.

Before spending time and money on a fantasy sports platform, it’s good to look at other user reviews. No single review or rating should make your decision, but checking the consensus is a good idea to know the potential pros and cons. With that in mind, here is what people are saying about Betr on the App Store and Google Play store.

Betr Picks iOS reviews

The Betr app for iPhone has a 4.2 rating on the App Store with a limited sample size (106 reviews). Finding the Betr app on the App Store can be confusing, so search for “Betr Fantasy & Sportsbook” when you look for the iOS download.

Those who gave it high ratings praised the design as “fresh … and easy to access” or described the no-push game mode as “cool.” Others praised it for fast support and timely responses when they had issues, such as a referral link that didn’t give a promised $25 bonus. In these cases, customer support helped quickly and gave a refund. Support also responded quickly in the App Store reviews section.

Multiple users had a different story, saying that they received “no contact” or “no fast replies” or saying their deposited money was “locked away forever.” Two users complained that the matching bonus required people to lose their deposit before accessing the bonus funds. Support noted that this isn’t the case, that the match bonus has a 1x playthrough but then allows users to access the bonus.

One user liked the fantasy games but wanted UFC fights on the app. Another asked for boxing picks. Betr customer support asked the users to stay tuned and promised Betr would “continue to make improvements and additional offerings.”

Betr Picks Google Play reviews

The Betr app on the Google Play store is much lower at 2.5 over 178 reviews. In this case, the app has more than 10,000 downloads and is available for download to those 18 and older.

Android users claim the app crashes often and doesn’t work much of the time. The top user complained that no live support exists and the FAQ is lacking in detail. This user edited that complaint to say that Betr responded quickly and fixed the issue, so the customer would use the app once improvements were made.

That was not the only complaint about the Android app not working properly. A second top reviewer said it “needs serious work” and the latest version is “buggy.” In this case, the user complained of being randomly logged out at times, randomly switching between money and coins, and having inconsistent account balances.

A third user said he had uninstalled and reinstalled “about 10 times” but it continued to crash, usually after a couple of successful picks. Customer support said Betr was having login issues for a two-day period and asked the person to try again (with no response.)

Several users whose reviews described glitches amended their rating to four stars later. In one case, the user said that the app is fun “but betting options are very limited.” This person got verified after multiple tries. Another said in mid-May 2023 that he updated his review due to a recent update, and the app is “working much better now.”

As the name suggests, Betr Picks offers pick’em contests. Multiple US states have ruled that these are actually parlay betting or over/under betting as opposed to daily fantasy sports. The contests involve predicting the stats of NFL, NBA, and MLB players.

Betr’s designers say they wanted simple DFS rules for casual sports fans. Customers don’t have to pick players based on a salary cap. Betr Picks uses no multipliers or other resource allocation tools. Instead, users see a player’s projected stats and decide whether that player will have “more” or “less” than the projection.

Betr’s executives talk about the intuitive nature of their game. Many sports fans may see a player’s average stat line and that night’s opponent and choose whether the player will have a good game or not.

Diehard fantasy owners willing to crunch the numbers might find pick’em contests a different challenge. While they might not like the parlay-style game rules, they also might expect they can win by finding soft projections and keeping their number of picks low.

Betr Picks is available to contestants in 23 states. That’s compared to the two states so far where the Betr Sportsbook is offering real money sports betting.

Betr Picks says it offers a “differentiated pick’em experience,” which includes the option to pick up to eight players at a time. With the use of the half-point mechanism from sports betting lines, no pushes happen. Participants either win or lose, while the platform either pays out or collects a profit on every contest.

The use of parlay-style contests offers the potential for much larger payouts than many DFS contests. Pick eight players correctly, and you’ll win 100x your entry fee. Most DFS contests with a handful of entrants pay out between 2x and 10x the entry fee.
