But it does have designs on making in-roads on the DFS market, by offering something very different in the fantasy space.
In the middle of 2017, Boom raised $2 million in new funding, which the start-up hopes will help it grow in the coming years.
Boom Fantasy offers a radically different take on the daily fantasy space than the salary-cap model employed by most of the industry.
Instead of picking players to fill out a fantasy roster, users make a series of predictions based on player performance.
Entering a contest will look familiar to anyone who has played DFS before. There is a lobby with a variety of contests. Each one has a different prize pool and entry fee (ranging from free to hundreds of dollars). Users simply choose which one they want to compete in:
From there, users are asked a series of questions (usually eight), with several choices available. Examples of the questions asked:
Here’s what a prop might look like:
The riskiest players to choose will award more points to the user. And the user receives points for each instance of the statistic gained by their chosen player (3,000 points for a hit in the example above).

The site says that more than six million predictions have been made since inception.
Boom Fantasy’s games involve a variety of sports.
