Online sports betting launched in Ohio at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 1, but the process began more than a year ago when HB 29, a bill regulating sports betting, passed both houses of the Ohio Legislature and Gov. Mike DeWine signed it into law.
The Ohio Casino Control Commission has approved BetMGM and a number of other sportsbooks to operate in the state beginning on New Year’s Day 2023.
