UFC on ABC main card preview and odds

Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Jailton Almeida

In the main event of Saturday’s UFC on ABC 4 fight card, heavyweights Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Jailton Almeida clash in a five-round bout between two fighters who rarely see the scorecards.

Rozenstruik (13-4) is primarily a one-punch knockout artist who can occasionally fall into the trap of giving away rounds while he looks for the perfect shot. He recently snapped the first losing streak of his pro career, bouncing back from two consecutive defeats to score a knockout in the opening 30 seconds of his bout with undersized heavyweight Chris Daukaus.

Almeida (18-2) comes in as a highly touted heavyweight prospect who has yet to lose a fight in the UFC. At 6’3” and usually around 230 pounds, Almeida is not an especially big heavyweight. Still, he is dangerous both on the feet and on the underground, with nearly as many wins by knockout as by submission. He’s only been out of the first round once in his four fights in the UFC, and he hasn’t needed more than two rounds in a little over five years.

Anthony Smith vs. Johnny Walker

In the co-main event, former light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Smith takes on eclectic striker Johnny Walker in a battle for relevance in the 205-pound division.

Smith (36-17) hasn’t fought since last July, when he suffered a fractured ankle in a TKO loss to Magomed Ankalaev. That halted a three-fight winning streak that had seemed to offer something of a career resurgence after two straight losses. Now he’s trying to bounce back from the longest layoff he’s had during his tenure in the UFC, returning after 10 months away.

Walker (20-7) is a tall, lanky fighter with an unusual style that can work both for and against him. He’s often unpredictable, but also powerful and dangerous on the feet. He’s currently riding a two-fight winning streak, with both recent wins coming via first-round stoppage. When opponents get a chance to settle in and get comfortable, Walker’s chances of victory tend to decline. He has yet to win a fight in the UFC that went out of the first round and has only won one of the three pro fights he’s been in that went that distance.
